Plumalina plumaria from New York

A few weeks ago I visited a rock shop near Buffalo, NY called Past and Present and found some very interesting fossils of the Hydrozoan Plumalina plumaria. I wrote about Plumalina before in this post and showed some specimens I'd found that could be one in the same. The pieces from Past and Present though presented themselves perfectly and as typical for what has been found before.

Here is the first piece with small pieces scattered on a shale matrix.

You can almost see where some of the branches meet except for the brittle shale breaks.

These specimens are labelled to have come from the Rhinestreet Shale which is part of the Upper Devonian aged West Falls formation.
