Parazyga hirstua

I found a new brachiopod species that I had never seen nor heard of before in the fossil gravel from Arkona. It's Parazyga hirstua and I would never have been able to ID it with the help of the Friends of the UMMP web page. It comes from the Hungry Hollow member of the Widder formation which is Devonian (Givetian stage).

This is a somewhat bland looking brachiopod and were it not for the shape of the shell I'd have thought it to be a heavily weathered Mucrospirifer. Thanks to this page and this page I was able to positively ID the specimen with it's true name.
